Repair Services - Hard Chrome
At this time we're no longer offering repairs.
Lazzar's Hydraulics provides this service process to satisfy your job requirements. Hard Chrome or Industrial Chrome, is a heavy coating that provides superior corrosion protection, hardness and wear resistance and helps eliminate galling and seizing of components subjected to dynamic and extreme working environments and conditions.
Hard Chrome plated parts will outlast and outperform standard unplated parts by a factor 2 to 10 times and have wear rates 100 times that of hardened steel. This saves you downtime, part replacements, time and labor which all cost you money.
Hard Chrome can be applied to flat surfaces, fine bores, cylindrical components like shafts and rollers, holes and close tolerance areas. It allows ultra high metal to metal sliding wear resistance. Hard chrome is an electrolytic process utilizing a chromic acid based electrolyte to provide ultra hard, (850-100Hv) with substrate adhesion greater than 10,000 K PSI. It can be applied to alloys, Aluminum, Titanium, Copper, Brass, Bronze and Nickel.
The process we employ is as follows:
- Degreasing the component to remove soiling.
- Manual cleaning to clear off any residual matter.
- Pre treatment depending on the substrate or base metal.
- Placement into chrome plating vat to bring to solution temperature.
- Application of plating current, the part is left the required time in the vat to attain the required thickness without compromising the substrate metal.
Plating will be measured in the thousandths and subject to AMS 2404 and QQ-3-320 Industry Standards.
